local outreach

Pregnancy resource center

This local non-profit ministry assists women facing unplanned pregnancies by providing alternatives to abortion. It is designed to provide material aid, counseling, and emotional support for those in need. In the past, the people of this congregation have given over $2,000 of the $9,000 total collected from area churches through the special "Baby Bottle" offering for this very worthy cause.

Habitat For Humanity - church hammers

In 2005, we partnered with four other congregations to build a house for the Josh Schaffer family in Alanson. During 2010, Stutsmanville Chapel, along with seven other churches, built a house for the Crawford family in Alanson.  Den Tippett, our project coordinator, will be reporting on the progress of this home and organizing volunteers.   We need help reaching our financial goal for this project.  Please prayerfully consider a donation to help fund the completion of this house.  In addition to financial contributions, the project will also need volunteers. If you can help please contact Den or the church office.

Prison Outreach

Tom Tippett, "No Fence Too High Prison Ministry"

The goal of this ministry program is to provide one on one and group spiritual counseling to inmates in the county jail and state prison system throughout Northern Michigan. The program is a confidential opportunity for men and women to get counseling from a Christian Chaplain who is not tied in any way to the system and for the work of evangelism and discipleship in prisons. Tom is excited about a new phase of his work in area and state prisons. Tom also conducts victim/offender reconciliation meetings and God has blessed this ministry opportunity. Tom did special training for this role and these reconciliations are the first of the kind in Michigan. Pray for Tom as he ministers to dozens of prisoners every week who are seeking to grow in Christ and as the gospel is presented to other unsaved prisoners. Tom also works with the Keryx prison teams.

Keryx Prison Ministry Teams

The purpose of Keryx is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ within a correctional institution through a three-day short course in Christianity. As inmates come into a relationship with Jesus Christ, they become involved in small prayer support groups of prison residents who have been trained and encouraged by Keryx volunteers, and by living out their life in Christ, begin work within their environment to build a Christian community.

Over twenty different men from Stutsmanville Chapel currently participate on Keryx Teams.  They conduct three weekends in the Spring and three in the Fall each year.
