The Orphan Helpers
Orphan Helpers Blog
We have established a mission partnership with Orphan Helpers, based in Hampton, Virginia. Orphan Helpers is dedicated to serving and ministering to the spiritual, educational, emotional and physical needs of orphaned, abandoned and incarcerated children. They assist in orphanages and detention centers internationally. Their focus is on children that have been left behind by every element of society including their families, adoption agencies and other orphanages. Orphan Helpers works to provide teachers and programs for orphanages and centers. Their current work is focused on Central America. They build and depend upon strong relationships with individuals, churches, governments and organizations in our efforts to help these children realize the purpose and plan that God has for their lives.

This is where Stutsmanville Chapel comes into the picture. We have the unique opportunity to be the pilot program for Orphan Helpers in developing church partnerships for specific cities and institutions. We have accepted the opportunity to develop ministry in four government operated centers in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. With our help, Orphan Helpers has already placed eight highly qualified Honduran staff members in three orphanages and one juvenile detention center serving a total of 350 children and youth. These staff members are evangelizing, disciplining, and caring for youth while also developing vocational and educational programs.
This congregation has responded in an incredible way, supporting this project at the rate of $50,000 per year. We are currently working with Orphan Helpers to provide items such as computers, sewing machines, etc. to help develop vocational programs.
We also conduct one to two mission trips to San Pedro Sula each year. We are asking interested persons to contact us about going on a trip or serving in other ways.We also fellowship with and involve congregations in Honduras as partners with us in this mission. We praise God for this marvelous opportunity to make a huge difference in the lives of "thrown away" youth, but also to be a light in this part of the world

Wycliffe:Duane & Shirley Troyer
Vernacular Media-JAARS Center, Waxhaw NC
Mission Partners since 1988

What is the first thing you would give a new believer...A Bible. There are still 300 million people in 1900 languages that do not have God's Word in their own language.
Duane and Shirley joined Wycliffe USA* out of a deep desire to be a part of the global team working to provide God's Word to every person on planet Earth in the language of their heart.
From 1989 to 2010 the Troyers were part of the Cameroon* branch, helping translation personnel to complete more than 20 New Testaments and 7 African language Jesus Films. They have served in language survey, children's education, facilities management, national employee relations, branch administration and vernacular media.
2010 to Present: The Troyers are in the US for their children's education. Duane
hopes to start a new assignment in Vernacular Media Services (VMS) at the JAARS Center (Wycliffe affiliate) once they have raised sufficient financial support for life in the US. If you are interested in partnering with the Troyers or learning more about

Translators Association of the Philippines

Lani Mallorca has worked with Youth with a Mission in the Philippines in various roles including helping train prospective missionaries especially how to love and reach Muslims with the Gospel. Lani has gone from her Bible translation to teaching others how to translate. She is now the Assistant Director for Technical Programs of the Translators Association of the Philippines, a division of Wycliffe. Lani is also involved in the following: 1. Helping train future translators; 2. helping train translation consultants so they can help check other people's translations. Stuts has partnered with Lani for approximately 20 years!
Lani recently reported to us that it has been a difficult time in her country with drought, then storms came resulting in landslides, and floods. The drought has damaged many hectares of rice land.
She is still supervising the translation of the Kalagan New Testament. She asks us to pray for this project as they wait for portions of the translation to be finished and for spelling reviews and revisions to be approved. We should also pray for the small group of Kalagan believers in Mati to grow strong in their faith. They now have a highly qualified Revision Consultant (Marc Jacobson) who will oversee the final process before publication which is targeted in the year 2010.
Samaritan's Purse: Operation Christmas Child
Samaritan's Purse is a nonprofit Christian relief and evangelism
organization. Among other endeavors, Samaritan's Purse spearheads
the annual "Operation Christmas Child" shoebox drive. This
is a project of Samaritan's purse led by Franklin Graham, son
of Billy Graham.
Stutsmanville Chapel participates by collecting shoeboxes from
members of the congregation full of various items for children
in parts of the world that experience poverty, hunger and the
devastations of war. Your box may go to a child who has never
received gifts before, and will know your gifts were given
because of the Love of Jesus. We provide up to 350 shoeboxes per year through Stuts. The collection dates are in November of each year. Contact the church office if you need a brochure or visit www.samaritanspurse.com for more information. |
