Jeff Bruney, Director of Youth Ministries

Jeff began his new position with us in September 2006 and became full-time April 1, 2007.

Jeff comes to us with previous experience in youth ministry. Jeff did an internship with the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in South Bend while he was a student at Bethel College in Indiana. This position included training in bible, church history, and ministry. This large church had over 300 youth involved in their ministry. Jeff continued as a staff worker after his internship and was involved with this congregation for almost four years.  Jeff, and his wife Amanda, moved to Northern Michigan early in 2005.  They helped start the new “Genesis Church” in Petoskey and have served in many important ministry roles in this congregation.

Jeff comes to us with high recommendations.  Two pastors he served with in youth ministry in Indiana had many positive comments to say about Jeff:  “Jeff has an incredible heart for ministry and a fantastic gift package, and great support from his wife Amanda”; “Jeff has a teachable spirit … is entrepreneurial …  self-initiates, is not afraid to dream.”; and much more affirmation for his ability to work with all kinds of youth, help in leading worship, and being a good team player.  We also have also heard nothing but positive support from local friends and associates and we had a chance to observe Jeff when he volunteered at Frostbite 2005.  We feel very blessed to have Jeff and Amanda join with us in ministry.

Jeff has worked previously as an Account Representative for Yellow Book U.S.A., working with business owners throughout the region to create an effective marketing package that helps grow their business.  He has had previous experience in his young life as a sales associate for American Family Life Assurance Company and as a Family Service Director for Chapel Hill Funeral Home.  Amanda works full-time as an executive secretary with the Evangelical Free Church denomination, working out of her home by computer.  Jeff and Amanda have one daughter; Mya Joy.
